Dartmouth College Baseball

Dartmouth College is one of the oldest and most selective colleges in the world. The school is a private coeducational university located in Hanover, New Hampshire, two hours north of Boston and is a member of the Ivy League, which means it is one of the nine colonial colleges founded before the American Revolution. Dartmouth was founded in 1769.

For the Class of 2010; 13,933 students applied for a little over 1,000 places in the class, and only 15.4% of applicants were admitted. Median SAT scores lie within the low 700s for each subject, and about 90% of the members of the Class of 2011 graduated in the top ten percent of their high school class. 30% of the members of the Class of 2011 graduated.

With a total enrollment of 5,753 (4,078 of whom are undergraduates), Dartmouth is the smallest school in the Ivy League. U.S. News and World Report ranks Dartmouth as one of the most selective colleges and as Number 11 in their 2008 Top Colleges and Universities Ranking.

Dartmouth Baseball

Dartmouth Baseball carries a 28 man roster and recruits nationally; for example the 2006 roster included players from 13 different states as well as Canada. The program is a year-round commitment to becoming the best player you can be, including weight-lifting, speed and agility classes with a full-time strength coach, fall season, and out of season individual work with the coaches.

The team plays in the Ivy League and home games are played at Red Rolfe Field (capacity of 1,000). Dimensions of the field are Left Field Fence at 316 feet, the Center Field distance is 445 feet, and to reach the stands in Right Field is 345 feet. Dartmouth gets national exposure as every Spring Dartmouth takes a 12-day spring trip. Past trips have included Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Seattle (to play in the Kingdome), and Texas.

Recent graduates include Conor Brooks '00, James Little '00, Brian Nickerson '00, Jeff Dutremble '01, Mike Levy '01, John Velosky '02, Tim Grant '04 and Ed Lucas '04 all whom have played in the minor leagues while Brad Ausmus '91, Mark Johnson '90 and Mike Remlinger '88 have all made it to "The Show" and played significant roles for their teams.

In the past five years Dartmouth has had eight players sign professional contracts. In 2002, Dartmouth had more Major League players (3) than any other New England or Ivy League school (Brad Ausmus - Houston Astros, Mark Johnson - NY Mets, Mike Remlinger - Atlanta Braves).
